At El Zopilote we grow two remarkable types of mushrooms: Oyster and Reishi.
Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus)
These delicious, fast-growing mushrooms are known for their delicate flavor and meaty texture.
They are rich in protein, fiber, vitamins B and D, antioxidants, and compounds that may help support the immune system, lower cholesterol, and improve gut health.
Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum)
Often called the “mushroom of immortality,” Reishi has been used for centuries in traditional medicine.
It is valued for its adaptogenic properties, helping the body manage stress, support immunity, improve sleep quality, and promote overall vitality. We grow it for teas, tinctures, and natural wellness use.

The tour is usually led by Cristiano, the owner of the hostel, and takes place once a week usually Tuesday at 11 am. Please check our current schedule on Instagram (@fincaelzopilote) or Facebook (El Zopilote, Isla de Ometepe) to confirm the day and time.
