The Concepción Volcano Hike is one of the most challenging and impressive adventures on Ometepe. The trail climbs steadily from forest to open volcanic slopes, offering wildlife encounters, dramatic landscapes, and—when the weather is clear—spectacular views over the island and Lake Nicaragua.
This is a difficult hike, long and steep, with rapidly changing weather and exposed sections near the top. It is not suitable for beginners, and you should only go with an experienced mountain guide—never alone.

What to Bring: Plenty of water, food/snacks, something warm for the upper sections, and good hiking shoes (similar to what you’d use for Volcán Maderas).

Meeting Time & Transportation:
Be ready at 5:15 AM to catch the early Bus Oscuro.
You will meet the guide at the bus stop, in front of the Bushop.
The round-trip bus ticket is paid by the tourist.
